It seems like celebrities are always at the forefront when it comes to health and beauty trends. They're always the first to try new gadgets or products, and they're the first to shout from the rooftops when something amazing appears on the scene.
Recently, Coleen Rooney of Britain has been sounding the drumbeat of a new type of hair removal laser, the Soprano ICE. While Rooney may not be well known in the United States, she is famous in her native England where she is a popular entertainment personality and wife to a soccer star. Created by cosmetic laser company Alma, the Soprano ICE laser promises superior, permanent hair removal without the pain and discomfort that comes with other laser treatments.
Laser hair removal has been around for years, and the process is surprisingly simple. Using a specially calibrated laser, a technician can heat up the follicle under the surface of the skin, destroying it. After a number of treatments, usually between three and six, the hair removal becomes permanent, and you never have to worry about the hassle of shaving or waxing again.
Sounds wonderful, right? Well, it is and it isn't. While there are certainly benefits to laser hair removal, the process itself does come with some side effects. Most notably, people who have the procedure done often complain of a mild-to-high level of pain. This discomfort makes sense given that the laser is, in effect, burning out hair follicles.
But what if there was an easier way? As it turns out, there already is.
Developed by Alma Lasers, the Soprano ICE device represents the next generation of laser hair removal. While it offers the high-energy absorption required to destroy hair follicles, the advanced ICETM technology inside the laser actually cools the skin during treatment. This cooling effect limits the risk of discomfort and burns both during and after the treatment is performed. Also, while some other lasers have limited effectiveness for certain types of skin and hair – particularly darker hues – the Soprano ICE is completely effective for any skin tone and hair color.
