Summer’s nearly here, and it’s time to get serious about a sleek, smooth, hair-free body for swimsuit weather. And who better to give advice on removing unwanted hair than Khloe Kardashian? In a recent blog posting, Kardashian, now 32, revealed that she had most of her unwanted hairs lasered away years ago. However, she doesn’t necessarily recommend laser hair removal for everybody – she actually misses some of her long gone hair.
Kardashian admits she was excessively hairy in her youth. Excess hair on her forehead caused breakouts, so she used to wax it off regularly before finally going the laser route. Her neck also had a lot of hair. Today, Kardashian is a bit wistful about her forehead hair and her now much more defined look. She says those stray hairs made her look more youthful, a situation resonating more with women as they enter their 30s.
Kardashian keeps her brows in top shape via waxing. In her blog post, she warns against threading, saying she would never do it. That’s because she heard a story about herpes spread from a threading technician to the client because the thread was in her mouth. The risk is apparently real, and staph infections can also spread from an esthetician’s mouth via the thread. However, the risk is low. After Kardashian made her statement, the internet lit up with stories, and this isn’t fake news. Although eyebrow thread fans may rethink their technique, kudos to Khloe Kardashian for bringing this rare side effect to light.
Lasering isn’t permanent hair removal per se. Errant hairs do grow back, so an annual or semi-annual touchup is needed. Now we know that Kardashian lasers her bikini line and underarms to avoid any ingrown hairs. Of course, the legs get regular laser treatments.
If you want to laser off your body hair for the first time this summer, it’s probably already too late. The laser hair removal process consists of several sessions spaced approximately six weeks apart to zap hair during the growing cycle. Get ready for beach weather next week by starting laser treatments in the fall or early winter. Laser treatments aren’t cheap. Expect to pay several thousand dollars, depending on how many sessions are required and where the hair is removed. Paying for laser hair removal doesn’t appear to be a problem for the Kardashians, but that’s not true of everyone.
