Body Hair Woes – How Kardashians Deal with Them

In mainstream culture, body hair is going the way of the dodo. For most of the 20th century, American women removed leg and underarm hair. Modern females are increasingly ridding themselves of pubic hair. Men are removing chest hair. It’s no longer a case of using a shaver or depilatory – waxing and lasering are the current weapons of choice in the body hair war. And who else but the Kardashians would offer all we need to know about eliminating every errant strand?

Creating the Dialog

People have differing ideas on what the K sisters offer to the cultural climate, but no one can deny they’ve made it acceptable to discuss issues not previously talked about in public. Whether you love them or loathe them, they have taught a generation of young women that it’s OK to ask these questions and get answers. Body hair elimination is exhibit A.

We now know that Khloe lasers her bikini line to avoid ingrown hairs. She also lasers her legs to keep shaving to a minimum. Kim used to laser her forehead when she was younger. By the way, she also lasered off all of her pubic hair, but has come to regret not having left some behind. Khloe would never take it off permanently, and she isn’t keen on hairstyles for that part of the anatomy, either. This is probably too much information from anyone, but it’s also useful. You don’t want to go out and permanently bushwhack – you might change your mind, as Kim did. The average reader likely knows more about the state of Kardashian body hair than she does about her closest friends’ preferences.

Some folks just can’t take a joke. When Kim posted that she’d wait until her daughter North West turned 2 ½ before she’d wax her eyebrows. Thousands of angry tweets later, she realized a lot of fans didn’t get the humor and called those who thought she would wax North’s eyebrow “pretty sick.” That’s the problem – the Ks go to such extremes in life the idea of waxing a toddler’s eyebrows sounded plausible. If North wants to rebel when she gets older, all she has to do is embrace her body hair and go natural. Just think – mom and aunts confounded because she doesn’t want to spend her life focusing on hair removal and related subjects and telling the world her views.
